In the back of the lessons binder (following the 50 lessons), is a set of tables that show which standards benchmarks can be met by teaching each lesson. The benchmarks identified are based on the premise that the entire lesson is followed (sharing the background information, using the perception and analysis questions, the comparison exercise, and the art project portion). Since the benchmarks are grouped by grades K-4 and 5-8, there are empty spaces in the grids so that teachers can fill in specific grade-level indicators, based on the ages of their own students.
Ohio’s Academic Content Standards are currently undergoing a re-visioning process. When the new standards are approved and released, we will update the tables to correlate to the new standards, and make them available on the KIBA website.
